This study assessed the managing of employee retention in government secondary schools, a case of selected government secondary schools in Tabora municipality. The main goal was to examine the management of employee retention in government secondary schools, a case of selected secondary schools in Tabora Municipality. The methods of data collection used were interviews and questionnaires. A total of 83 respondents were involved, among them 13 respondents including ten heads of government secondary schools, district education officer and other education stake holders. Data collected was analyzed by a computer program (Statistical Package for Social Scientist (SPSS). In this analysis, data was cross-tabulated to produce percentages and frequencies of responses on performance variables. Based on the study it was found that improving working environment, providing satisfying remuneration and better employee benefits were among the best ways of managing employee retention in government secondary schools in Tabora municipality. The study therefore recommended that human resource managers and other decision makers should be innovative and determine the best and effective means of retaining the best employees in government secondary schools in Tabora municipality.
