The study, has aimed to assess contract management and its impact in public buildings projects. The study specifically has focused on determining the extent to which stake holders perceive contract management in relation to public building projects. In additional the study determines the impact of management of quality, time and cost effectiveness, the study also determines causes for poor contract management. A cross sectional research design was adopted; sample sizes of 40 respondents were obtained through random and non- random sampling techniques. The study has used both quantitative and qualitative methods approaches. Statistical Package of Social Sciences (SPSS) and Microsoft Excel (Ms Excel) were used to analyse data. Data revealed that, more than 80% of the respondents strongly agreed, that quality had an influence on the effectiveness of contract management. Regarding to the major barriers in attainment of project quality include lack of effective supervision (96%), lack of effective communication (89%), lack of proper equipment for execution of the contract (98%) and the lack of management’s commitment to the quality assurance (98%).Furthermore, the study has found out that, the main causes of poor contract management related to the execution on the project, poor contract management and bureaucracy as well political influences as the most preferred factors as causing delays on construction projects. In General, the construction industry in Dodoma Municipal is effective in adhering in contract management. The management should find out mistakes and discrepancies in contract document and fluctuations in prices of building materials. The factors above could be observed and could be a clue to the prevention of poor quality, delays and cost management
