dc.description Social security schemes are basically promoted to play a vital role to its members in terms of creating economic output, encourage investment for both formal and informal sector employees, promotes productivity, sustain economic activities and wage security. This study focused on the factors that influence enrolment to the NSSF among the informal sector employees in Tanzania. Specifically, this study addressed the challenges faced by informal sector employees in the National Social Security fund in enrolment, the perception of informal sector employees on the enrollment in the National Social Security Fund and the factors of informal sector employees’ decision to enroll in the National Social Security Fund. This study used a cross sectional design which provides ability to collect data at one points in time. The sample size was 96 informal sector employees in which information was collected by using questionnaire and interview guide was used to collect information from key informants. The data were analyzed by using SPSS, in which descriptive analysis which allows the use of frequency and percentage were used. The linear regression was used which gives the relationship between variables as inferential statistics. The findings revealed that challenges faced by the informal sector employees in the NSSF enrolment. Such as lack of awareness on the importance of NSSF, the importance of social security funds is lacking for the side of informal sector employees. The perception of informal sector employees on the enrolment in the NSSF is found to be on the difficultness in joining the NSSF. Recommendations to the NSSF should have to reduce procedures to join in the social security funds. There is a high possibility of reduced enrollments of the informal sector employees in the future because of difficult procedures in the social security system.
