dc.description This research titled “Assessment of the role of Performance Management system on organizational Efficiency. The study was carried out at Temeke District Police Force – Dar es Salaam. The purpose of this study is to assess the role of performance management system on organisational efficiency at Temeke District Police Force. It specifically aims at, firstly, To examine how the current performance management system at Temeke District Police Force is structures. Secondly, To determine the extent of performance management system impact on organizational efficiency of the Temeke District Police Force, and thirdly, to find out ways in which the management at Temeke District Police Force can use to improve their performance management system. It is agreed that the society has greatly changed in all respects during the past years as almost all governmental and non-governmental organizations had to change their structure and how they operate. But on the part of Tanzania Police Force, this has not been the case as little in structure and substance has moved or changed with time. There are still uncertainties on what has gone wrong, what have been the responsible factors for this state of affair, and which of the performance evaluation techniques can best assist strategic decision-making. The main causes for poor performance of Police force in Tanzania is include Lack of technical qualifications and expertise, Inefficient allocation of funds for covering administrative costs, Personal interest and pressure from budget holder and Lack of other expertise in Information technology issues. The findings of the study is expected be of importance to management and employees in Temeke District Police Force and Tanzania Police Force as whole. Also, to the general public due to the fact that for quite a long time police force efficiency has been one of the major problems in Tanzania and as a result there have been poor performance. Thus the following are the importance of the study; The findings of the study will contribute to the understanding of the role of performance management system on organisational efficiency especially at police force.
