dc.description This research aimed of looking at the role of training in improving organization performance. The research concentrated on AIRTEL in Dar-es-Salaam. The study selected Airtel Tanzania limited headquarters as a unit of inquiry where by the sample was selected from Airtel staff. Researcher applied simple random sampling, purposeful sampling method and systematic sampling method as sampling techniques to ensure that accurate sample were obtained for the study The sources of materials for the study were both primary and secondary. Primary data were collected by the use of interviews, questionnaires and observation which were designed and administered to customers and employees of Airtel Tanzania limited. Secondary materials were extracted from relevant textbooks, newspapers, reports/articles, journals, bulletins and documents presented by corporate financial analysts and policy planners. The data from the field were analyzed using the following techniques: editing, tabulation, coding and Statistical Package of social science. The findings of the study revealed that training had significant effects on the productivity of workers in the organization. Labor productivity growth appears to be enhanced by the joint introduction of training and innovation. This is due to the fact that training requires the support of innovation to benefit labor productivity growth. Training of old and new workers in an organization is not only aimed at promoting the ability of workers concerned but also promote the good image of the organization as well as preparing workers for taking up higher responsibilities when vacancy occurs. In view of the findings, it has been recommended that Airtel Tanzania should foster a culture of continuously improving the knowledge, experience, competencies, skills and attitudes of their workers to meet the ever-changing demands of their jobs. Towards meeting this objective, staff training should be viewed as pivotal to the sustainability and efficient operations of the organization, hence the need for Continuous investment by Airtel Tanzania in human resource development.
