dc.description The study assesses the relationship between motivation and employees’ work performance. Performance of individuals at East Coast requires immediate attention and investigation. Late comings, earlier outs, absenteeism, low commitment and engagement and the like have greatly affected the work performance of individuals. The total study involved a sample of 94 workers; obtained by a DeVaus Formula with the consideration of 90% Confidence level and only 10% Margin error. A systematic random sampling approach was adopted in the sampling process. Primary data was collected using structured Questionnaires administered to 90 randomly selected respondents. Data were analyzed with the aid of SPSS and presented in tables and figures. Regression analysis was attempted to establish the relationship between Motivation and employees’ work performance. The study findings reveal that majority of the workers were motivated by working conditions, promotions, salary, recognition, appreciation for work done. The study also found that most employees believe that training, salary and incentives highly influence their work performance. The study also revealed that employees are highly satisfied with co-worker relations and work while the majorities are dissatisfied with salary, recognition, organizational rules, and promotion opportunities. Based on the study findings, it is concluded that there is a positive relationship between motivation and employee work performance, and thus effective motivation packages within an organization can enhance the performance of individuals and help shape their behavior.
