This study was to examine the impact of logistic drivers in the supply chain towards
a competitive advantage for the business firm, a case study based at PanAfrican
Energy (T) LTD (PAET) located at Kinondoni Municipal, Dar es Salaam (Tanzania)
and 80 respondents were responded. The primary objective of this study was to
examine the impact of logistic drivers in the supply chain while the specific
objectives were, to evaluate the contribution of facilities, the purpose of inventory,
and the influence of transportation systems in attaining competitive advantage. The
logistic drivers should not only be managed as a cohesive unit but also be aligned
with the orientation of the selected supply chain strategy, in terms of responsiveness
and cost-efficiency. The research study used primary data collection techniques that include a questionnaire, and observation to get data for analysis and presentation. Nonprobability sampling techniques especially judgmental sampling was used.
Moreover, descriptive analysis, and multiple regression analysis were used as the data analysis method in this research study The study found that logistic drivers in the supply chain are substantial factor towards a competitive advantage for the business firm. The study did throughfacilities, inventory, and transportation systems as logistics drivers in the supply chain which should be managed effectively in order to attain competitive advantage. Therefore, researcher concluded that the logistics (supply chain) manager at PAET must find the right balance between responsiveness and efficiency for each logistic
driver in the supply chain to attain competitive advantage. Hence, researcher
recommended that PAET may having more facilities to make a chain more responsive, or having fewer, central facilities creates higher efficiency. Also, holding higher level of inventory (product) increases the responsiveness of a supply chain or keeping inventory (product) low increases the chain's efficiency. While, using faster modes of transportation increases a chain's responsiveness or using slower modes generally increases efficiency
