The study conclude that, the contribution of Transportation Systems to the economy
and the welfare of the society are very significant and must play a major role in the
development programs of a nation and a country. Poor Transportation Systems and
networks cause enormous losses due to traffic congestion and road accidents, far
beyond the cost of the development of efficient systems.
Based on the findings, it was recommended that expanding and adding roads can
immediately reduce congestion and improve traffic flow, the creation of new roads
decreases congestion while increasing overall access to businesses, shopping,
recreation and family as a result of more efficient driving routes. There should be
modernization of traffic lights in Dar es Salaam; also mass transport should be
encouraged.
