dc.description Abstract This study examines factors affecting sustainability of growth of women’s micro-businesses in MCM in Nyamagana District in Tanzania. Growth of women owned micro-businesses entrepreneurs was not in sustainable way, thus affected their business expansion, their standard of living, economic growth and employment. Different literature reviews pointed out various factors that affected sustainability of growth of women’s micro-businesses to the extent that their businesses growth was not sustainable. The objective of this study was to identify factors affecting sustainability of growth of women’s micro-businesses in Mwanza Central Market (MCM) by examining knowledge and skills of women on micro-business, accessibility of women to entrepreneurial training programs on growth basis, effort made in improving women skills and knowledge in loan proposals writing, to identify constraints which affect sustainability of their growth and to develop and implement strategies in order to promote sustainability of growth of women micro-businesses in the market. This study covers women’s micro-businesses entrepreneur in MCM through interviewing and providing questionnaires to 80 women doing business in the market. To find out factors affecting sustainability of growth of women’s micro-businesses, sixteen questionnaires were designed and issued to eighty women’s micro-businesses in MCM and ten interview questions designed and asked to individual women who owned micro-businesses in the market in order to collect primary data so that to answer research questions. The findings were discussed within the context of the literature review. Analysis of these data yielded different views of women’s micro-businesses on various factors affecting sustainable growth. The analysis shown that there were factors which affected women’s micro-businesses growth in the market. xiv The findings revealed that the most affecting factors were; heavy taxes, lack of knowledge on marketing their products, low level of education, inability to secure loan through loan proposal writing, lack of entrepreneurial skills, lack of raw material, lack of confidence and enough customers were the major factors to growth of women’s micro-businesses in the market. For effective sustainable growth of women’s micro-businesses in MCM, focus should be directed on training programs to women’s micro-businesses in the market so that they can acquire knowledge and skills on how to conduct their businesses in the market. This include knowledge on how they should raise their capital through loan proposal writing, to market their products, to negotiate with their customers and to minimize tax liability so that to promote women’s micro business growth in MCM
