dc.description The study focuses on Challenges Facing Maternal Health Services Delivery in Rural Areas of Tanzania: a Case of Bukombe District Council as social problem affecting most of women under the study area. It was guided by the following specific objectives; to evaluate maternal health care provider’s availability situation in the study area, to examine the accessibility of maternal health care facilities in the study area and to investigate challenges facing relationship between maternal health care providers and expectant mothers in maternal health service delivery. A hundred (100) respondents were employed so as to get relevant and reliable information concerning the study and probability and non-probability sampling procedures were utilized to get sample used. Primary and secondary data were exploited whereby questionnaire and interview guides’ questions were used as method of data collection. Data analysis was employed both qualitative and quantitative; whereby SPSS Version 20 was employed. The investigation of this work reveals that challenges facing maternal health services delivery are lack of maternal health care providers, dreadful relationships between maternal health care providers and expectant mothers as well as pathetic and inaccessibility of maternal health care services. These factors resulted in the increase of infant and maternal mortality rate, disability to expectant mothers as well as burden to maternal health care providers. The findings of study recommended that in order to improve maternal health services delivery, maternal health care providers should be increased. This ensures availability of maternal health care facilities as well as to improve relationships between maternal health care providers and expectant mothers. Eventually and conclusively, the study gives a confirmation that the study concerning challenges facing maternal health services delivery is potential since maternal mortality is an obstacle for development of any society or country.
