dc.description Dissertation (MA Public Administration)
dc.description This study, has aimed at assessing the water supply and water management programs at Rombo district, as a case study. It specifically, focused on examining how water supply program was being conducted in the area by identifying issues and problems, related to the accessibility of domestic water to the residents of Rombo district. The study, also aimed on drawing solution to the problem by examining which of them hindered the water supply process, on ensuring the attainment of water policy objectives of 2002. The research has based on this case study approaches by focusing on Rombo district council purposefully, in Tarakea-Motamburu, Nanjara, and Reha wards. The total respondents from both non-management and the management, were purposively sampled and administered for providing answers to the questionnaires prepared by the investigator. An observation method, was conducted to the field during data collection activities. Data were analyzed through the usage of SPSS and presented in figures. Research instruments that included questionnaires and observations were used during this study. The study has revealed that, there was a great disconnection between water supply agencies and the community due to the lack of education management to the community, which led mismanagement of supply facilities, hence, became difficult to the suppliers to perform their activities. The study has also discovered to have a shortage of water to the water sources during the dry season, which led to the challenge of supplying water during that period. As for recommendations, the study suggests that, there should be a link between water supply agencies and the community, when the community will be educated also should be supported in material means and technology, for helping them to keep harvested rain water, for future uses during the dry season when water became scarce.
