dc.description Dissertation (MA Education)
dc.description This study investigated the secondary school teachers’ knowledge, attitude and practice towards the use of ICT in teaching and learning process. The study objectives included investigation of teachers’ knowledge on the use of ICT in teaching and learning in Tanzania secondary schools, exploring teachers’ attitudes toward the use of ICT in teaching and learning and examining teachers’ practice on the use of ICT in teaching and learning process. The study employed qualitative approaches, using descriptive design. Interviews, questionnaire and observation were used as instruments for data collection. Findings from the study showed that most secondary school teachers lacked proper knowledge of using ICT facilities in the teaching and learning process. The visited schools had ICT facilities but they were not enough compared to the number of teachers and students. Nevertheless, teachers lacked knowledge of using the few ICT facilities present in schools. The study concluded that, the effective use of ICT in teaching and learning process in Tanzania secondary schools can be achieved only if there will be cooperation among education stakeholders, including the Government, schools, teachers and parents. It was recommended that MoEVT and District Councils should train in-service teachers on the proper use of ICT facilities. Also, they should increase the number of ICT facilities to meet the number of students and teachers in the schools.
