The findings have revealed that people of Tunduru District have enough awareness
on the importance of participating in community based projects. Women also attend
meetings massively and participates fully in community projects. Research findings
indicate that, some of the political parties do play a big role in avoiding their party
members to participate in community based projects. One of the opposition parties
mentioned to lead this evil tendency of hindering development of Tunduru district.
Also, the majority of leaders in Tunduru district lack accountability and transparency
when implementing community projects. They don‟t involve fully the community in
planning, budgeting and expending project funds. To a great deal, this tendency
disappoints the community from participating in community based projects.
Findings from the study suggest some quick measures to be taken so as to enhance
community participation by providing education to citizens on the importance of
community participation; involving fully the citizens in the whole process of
implementing social projects and leaders to be transparent when implementing
community based projects.
