Dissertation (MA Public Administration)This study was conducted to determine the factors influencing membership dropout from Community Health Fund (CHF) among heads of households in Mpwapwa District. Specifically, this study assessed the factors contributing to membership dropout from CHF among heads of households, knowledge, understanding and attitude among households’ heads towards the quality of health services delivered, finally, the challenge facing CHF members in accessing and utilization of health services in Mpwapwa District. A cross-sectional research design was adopted, whereby both purposive and simple random sampling techniques were used. A total of 108 respondents were interviewed; among of them 94 respondents were heads of household and 14 key informant from Mpwapwa district council. By using questionnaire and interview guide questions data were collected, whereby qualitative and quantitative data were obtained, while, the analysis of data was done through Scientific Package for Social science version 16 (SPSS). The findings of the study revealed that poor health services were the greatest challenge. Eventually more than half of respondents confirmed that quality of services provided to CHF members were of low quality. Therefore, it is concluded that poor provision of health services is one among the factors that influence membership dropout. It is recommended that for CHF to fulfill its purpose of serving and improving health of those marginalized people living in rural areas who are also engage in informal sectors the Ministry of Health Community Development Gender, Elderly and Children should strive to improve the quality of health services to both members of CHF and non-members.
