The importance of effective management for a successful and productive organisation is stressed. Considers library and information services managers as having a centre stage role for leading their subordinates in the process of bringing an effective management and good work output for their organisations. Stresses the importance of managers and their subordinates working together through managerial roles and sharing a strategy for an effective management process. Points out selfmanagement, understanding individual's behaviour, assertiveness, delegation, empowerment and good relationships as some aspects that could help to harness an effective management process to improve and strengthen productivity.
