The general objective of this study was to investigate the influence of Open Performance Review and Appraisal System on Improvement of Teacher’s Job Performance of Secondary Schools in Nyamagana District. This was due to the hope that the findings obtained will form a base for further studies; inform policy makers and stakeholders on how to make effective uses of OPRAS. The research employed cross-section survey design and data were attained from 50 teachers, 10 heads of schools, DESO, WEO, SLO and DAEO within Nyamagana District through self development of questionnaire, structured and unstructured interview, and Focus Group Discussion. The Study was descriptive where both qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis approach were employed. The findings show that the majority of teachers in Nyamagana District have negative attitude on the influence of Open Performance Review and Appraisal System on improvement of teacher’s job performance. Some teachers were not sure with the uses of OPRAS on how it can influence of teacher’s job performance. Implication of results; the findings show new insights and knowledge in revising and implementing policy makers. It also highlights problems which encounter OPRAS implementation and the way foward to admit the problem. Findings will help teachers to acquire skills and strategies on how OPRAS may influence their performance, The study recommends that there is a need of raising awareness to teachers and their supervisors on the use of OPRAS and on how it can operate in their field and on the importance of OPRAS so that it can promote teacher’s job performance as the title states. Also recommendation is there just for action taking and further studies. |
